Tour Itinerary

01

DAY 1 : Depart from Zanzibar โ€“ Selous Game Reserve.

Your flight to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Selous Game Reserve will leave Zanzibar at 0930 am and takes one hour. You will be met at the airstrip in Selous by your Selous River Camp guide who will transfer you to the lodge. En route, you will enjoy your first experience of this incredible and diverse reserve. After lunch, Sunset cruise on our comfortable riverboat, looking at hippos, crocodiles and birds, and enjoying the spectacular sunset over this enormous river. Overnight at Selous River Camp (Lunch & Dinner)

02

DAY 2 : Full Day Selous Game Reserve.

After your first night in Selous, awake early to a dawn chorus and spectacular views from your room (โ€œbandaโ€). After a quick cup of tea or coffee, head into the reserve as dawn breaks for a full day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, in which you should see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all the great favourites โ€“ lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra โ€“ and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. Great variety of bird species. Wonderful scenery, with varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with long views to far-off mountains. Packed lunch and time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink โ€“ a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up unseen! Back to the lodge by 6.30 for sunset and dinner when youโ€™re ready. Overnight at Selous River Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner)

03

DAY 3 : Game Drive in Selous โ€“ back to Zanzibar.

Up early for a walk through the bush and along the riverbank to learn about the local environment. Back after the walk for breakfast, and then departure for Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar.

End of safari. It is important to note that this safari involves long drives of about 4 to 5 hours and sometimes more depending on the traffic floor and traffic police control along this busy highway to Selous Game Reserve.
We can offer this 2 Days Selous Game Reserve Safari from Zanzibar with a range of accommodations from budget, mid range to luxury tented camps located inside and outside the parkโ€™s boundaries.

You bet they are. Tanzania is one of Africaโ€™s most stable countries. Youโ€™ll be welcomed by its friendly people and always taken care of by attentive staff. After full days of wildlife viewing, rest up at handpicked camps and lodges, which offer authentic African charm and modern-day conveniences.

We provide free bottled water at all camps and during all wildlife-viewing drives. You can also purchase bottled water at all lodges.

There are more bugs in many places in the U.S. than you will encounter on safari! As in North America, deet-based repellents and citronelle-based products work well if you encounter mosquitoes or other small insects..

For medical advice, itโ€™s always best to consult your doctor. Most travelers receive a vaccination for yellow fever and ant malarial pills. Keep in mind that youโ€™ll be staying in camps and lodges designed to accommodate American and European guests.

Northern Tanzania! Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site, has one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in the world. The vast plains of Serengeti National Park also host a myriad of wildlife, especially during the wildebeest migration.!

All kinds! You will see the animals youโ€™ve always dreamed of encountering on safariโ€”zebra, elephant, hippo, giraffe, lion, warthog, wildebeest, and so much more.

Tanzania has the best year-round wildlife viewing, and we adjust our itineraries, departure dates, and accommodations based on wildlife migration patterns. In Tanzania, any time is a wonderful time to be on safari. Of course, there are seasonal variations, but youโ€™ll always see a lot of animals.

The Great Migration is a year-round phenomenon where vast herds of mammals, mainly wildebeest, gazelle, and zebra, move around the Serengeti in search of food and water. The driving force of the migration is rain, making it difficult to predict.

Hakuna matata! No worries! Plenty of awe-inspiring moments present themselves whenever you travel in Tanzania. Even if you donโ€™t happen to see the Great Migration, youโ€™ll still see an abundance of wildlife.

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible to ensure your spot. This is especially important for travelers booking private safaris or adding extensions to their trips.

The delicious cuisines of Tanzania are a tasty yet amazing blend of the best of Swahili flavours with the best western, Arabic, and Indian cuisines.
