Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by the Tanzania Adventures Group team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. This first day is ideal for rest, safari briefing, and final preparation before the wildlife journey begins. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the lodge and receive a full explanation of the route, park expectations, and packing guidance for the days ahead.
Arusha serves as the main gateway for the Northern Circuit, and starting here allows the safari to begin smoothly the next morning. The evening is reserved for check-in, dinner, and overnight before departure to Tarangire.
Suggested accommodation: Charity Hotel, Outpost Lodge, or a similar affordable Arusha hotel.
Day 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park, then onward to Karatu
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for your first full game drive. Tarangire is widely known for its giant baobab trees, large elephant herds, and seasonal movement of wildlife along the Tarangire River. The park often provides excellent early safari action with zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, impalas, warthogs, and predators appearing in the same ecosystem.
After lunch and an afternoon game drive, continue toward Karatu for dinner and overnight. Staying outside the park helps maintain an affordable budget while keeping you well positioned for the next stages of the safari.
Suggested accommodation: Eileen’s Trees Inn, Kudu Lodge, or a similar affordable lodge in Karatu.
Day 3
Karatu to Central Serengeti National Park
This morning, travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and continue toward the famous Serengeti National Park. The drive itself is part of the safari experience, with changing scenery, Maasai landscapes, and distant wildlife sightings along the route. As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into iconic plains that define East African safari imagery.
An afternoon game drive begins as you head toward Central Serengeti, one of the most wildlife-rich sections of the park. This region is especially productive for big cats, resident herbivores, and year-round game viewing, making it a perfect base for an affordable but rewarding safari holiday.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp.
Day 4
Full Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Spend a full day exploring Central Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. This is one of the best opportunities in the program to search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, and large mixed herds across the plains. The Seronera area is especially known for predator activity because of the permanent water sources and reliable concentration of prey.
With a picnic lunch or lodge-based meal arrangement depending on the day’s movement, you have the flexibility to stay longer in productive wildlife areas. By the end of the day, guests usually gain a very strong sense of why Serengeti remains one of the world’s most celebrated safari destinations.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp.
Day 5
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in Serengeti as you exit the park and continue toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. This travel day still offers strong wildlife chances, and it allows the program to transition naturally from open plains to the elevated crater region. Along the way, there may be optional scenic stops depending on route conditions and timing.
Reaching the Ngorongoro area in the afternoon places you close to the crater access road for the next day. The evening is spent resting at the lodge and preparing for one of the safari’s highlight experiences.
Suggested accommodation: Rhino Lodge, Eileen’s Trees Inn, or a similar affordable accommodation near Ngorongoro/Karatu.
Day 6
Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Today you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive on the crater floor. This UNESCO-listed natural wonder is one of Tanzania’s best locations for concentrated wildlife viewing, including buffalo, lions, hyenas, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and a chance to spot the highly sought-after black rhino. Because the crater is compact compared with other parks, sightings can be excellent in a single day.
After the crater tour and picnic lunch, drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight. The day combines dramatic scenery, dense wildlife concentration, and one of the most memorable safari environments in Africa.
Suggested accommodation: Eileen’s Trees Inn, Kudu Lodge, or a similar affordable lodge in Karatu/Mto wa Mbu area.
Day 7
Lake Manyara Area Visit and Return to Arusha
On the final day, enjoy a morning visit in the Lake Manyara area before returning to Arusha. Depending on timing and operational preference, this may include a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park or a scenic park-edge experience combined with the drive back. Lake Manyara is known for its beautiful groundwater forest, escarpment views, monkeys, birdlife, and diverse habitats in a relatively compact park.
After the excursion, continue to Arusha for drop-off at your hotel, airport, or onward connection. This brings the safari to a close with one more landscape contrast before departure, completing a highly satisfying and well-priced Tanzania wildlife journey.
Suggested end-of-tour option: Day room or airport transfer in Arusha can be arranged on request.
