4 Days Detailed Itinerary
This day-by-day plan is built to give guests the best balance of scenery, balloon experiences, wildlife viewing, and comfortable overnight arrangements within a short safari timeframe.
Day 1
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast in Arusha, depart with your private safari guide and drive to Tarangire National Park. The journey introduces you to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit before the landscapes open into one of the country’s most attractive wildlife parks, famous for giant baobab trees, large elephant herds, and wide seasonal movement of animals around the Tarangire River.
On arrival, begin your first game drive with opportunities to spot elephants, zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, impala, warthogs, ostrich, and, with luck, lions or leopards. The afternoon safari is planned to be relaxed but productive, allowing guests to settle into the rhythm of the journey before heading to camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Suggested overnight: Tarangire Simba Lodge / Sangaiwe Tented Lodge / similar
Day 2
Tarangire Balloon Safari and Transfer Toward Serengeti
Start early for a sunrise hot air balloon safari over Tarangire. This is one of the most memorable moments of the trip, offering a quiet and panoramic view of the river systems, baobab landscape, and moving wildlife below. After landing, enjoy a special bush breakfast before continuing with the rest of the safari program.
Later, depart for the Serengeti route. Depending on your preferred logistics and accommodation level, the transition can be arranged by road through the scenic highlands and safari corridor or with a faster flight connection for a more premium version of the package. By late afternoon or evening, arrive at your Serengeti accommodation and prepare for the next morning’s adventure.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Heritage Camp / Kati Kati Tented Camp / similar
Day 3
Serengeti Balloon Safari and Full Game Drive
Rise before dawn for your Serengeti hot air balloon safari, one of the signature experiences of the entire journey. Floating above the plains at sunrise offers a spectacular perspective over the ecosystem, and depending on the season, you may see resident wildlife, predator activity, or even movement linked to the great migration. The balloon experience is usually followed by a bush breakfast in the wilderness.
After breakfast, continue with an extended Serengeti game drive. Your guide will focus on the most active wildlife areas for the day, giving you the best chance to see lions, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, hippos, giraffes, and abundant plains game. This day adds strong photographic value and gives the trip its most iconic Tanzania safari feeling.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge / Into Wild Africa Camp / similar
Day 4
Morning Game Drive and Return to Arusha
Enjoy a final morning safari while the park is still active and temperatures are cool. This last game drive is a good opportunity to complete your wildlife checklist, enjoy more photography, and take in the atmosphere of the Serengeti before beginning the journey back. Depending on your confirmed routing, return can be arranged by road or domestic flight connection to Arusha.
On arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to your hotel or airport for departure. Guests who would like to continue with a mountain and safari combination can also review our
