Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be welcomed by the Tanzania Adventures Group team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. This day is reserved for rest, safari briefing, and final preparation for the long journey ahead.
Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the hotel and review the full route with your safari coordinator before dinner and overnight.
Suggested accommodation: Charity Hotel, Outpost Lodge, or a similar budget hotel in Arusha.
Day 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for the first major game drive of the safari. Tarangire is famous for giant baobab trees, large elephant herds, and strong wildlife movement around the river system.
Throughout the day, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, buffalo, warthogs, and predators depending on the season. After the game drive, continue to Karatu for overnight.
Suggested accommodation: Eileen’s Trees Inn, Kudu Lodge, or a similar affordable lodge in Karatu.
Day 3
Lake Manyara National Park
Today explore Lake Manyara National Park, one of the most scenic parks on the northern route. It is known for groundwater forest, escarpment views, lake-edge habitats, monkeys, hippos, elephants, and diverse birdlife.
The park offers a completely different safari atmosphere from Tarangire, adding ecological variety and beautiful scenery to the itinerary. Return to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
Suggested accommodation: Eileen’s Trees Inn, Kudu Lodge, or a similar affordable lodge in Karatu.
Day 4
Karatu to Central Serengeti
After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park. The changing scenery from highlands to open plains makes this one of the most exciting transfer days of the journey.
Once in Central Serengeti, begin an afternoon game drive en route to your camp. This area is especially strong for big cats and resident wildlife throughout the year.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Day 5
Full Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Spend the day exploring the Seronera area of Central Serengeti, one of East Africa’s most productive wildlife zones. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, and large herds are frequently seen across this region.
Because you remain in the park all day, your guide can follow the best wildlife action rather than rushing between viewing points.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or similar affordable tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Day 6
Second Full Day in Central Serengeti
A second full day in Central Serengeti makes this itinerary much stronger than shorter packages. It gives more flexibility for wildlife tracking, photography, and exploring different sections of the central plains.
This added time often leads to more memorable sightings and creates a deeper safari rhythm that many travellers prefer.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or similar affordable tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Day 7
Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti
After breakfast, continue north through Serengeti with game viewing along the way. This overland movement increases the sense of safari scale and reveals more of the park’s geographic diversity.
Northern Serengeti is especially attractive during migration months and remains beautiful year-round for wildlife, remote landscapes, and quieter safari atmosphere.
Suggested accommodation: Heritage Mara Camp, Mara Heritage Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp in Northern Serengeti.
Day 8
Full Day in Northern Serengeti
Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti. During migration season, this area is famous for dramatic river crossing activity, but it is also rewarding outside the peak period with excellent big game sightings and sweeping landscapes.
The remoteness of the north gives the safari a more expedition-like feel and adds another layer of discovery to the journey.
Suggested accommodation: Heritage Mara Camp, Mara Heritage Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp in Northern Serengeti.
Day 9
Second Full Day in Northern Serengeti
A second full day in the northern section allows more time to search for key wildlife activity and makes the safari route feel much more complete. Instead of a short stop, you experience this region properly and gain stronger wildlife value.
This day is especially important for travellers interested in migration landscapes, predator movement, and quieter safari zones.
Suggested accommodation: Heritage Mara Camp, Mara Heritage Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp in Northern Serengeti.
Day 10
Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti
Today travel back south through Serengeti with game viewing on the way. This remains an active safari day because wildlife movement and changing scenery continue throughout the transfer.
Arrive back in Central Serengeti for dinner and overnight as you prepare for the final wildlife stages of the safari.
Suggested accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp, Kontiki Serengeti Camp, or a similar affordable tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Day 11
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast, enjoy a final Serengeti game drive while heading toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. The route offers one more chance to enjoy the plains before the scenery changes to cooler highland landscapes.
Overnight near the crater so you are well positioned for an early descent the following morning.
Suggested accommodation: Rhino Lodge, Ngorongoro Safari Lodge budget room, or a similar affordable stay near the crater access area.
Day 12
Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive to Lake Eyasi Area
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for one of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife experiences. The crater floor supports dense wildlife concentrations, often including buffalo, lions, hyenas, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, and the possibility of black rhino.
After the crater tour and picnic lunch, continue to the Lake Eyasi area for overnight.
Suggested accommodation: Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge budget option or a similar practical stay near Lake Eyasi.
Day 13
Lake Eyasi Cultural Excursion and Return toward Arusha
Today explore the Lake Eyasi region, known for its dry lake landscapes, traditional communities, and different cultural atmosphere compared with the national parks. This adds another layer to the safari adventure and makes the route feel broader than a classic wildlife-only itinerary.
After the excursion, continue back toward Arusha for overnight, giving you a more relaxed final return instead of a rushed end-of-tour transfer.
Suggested accommodation: Charity Hotel, Outpost Lodge, or a similar budget hotel in Arusha.
Day 14
Arusha National Park or City Relaxed Departure Day
On the final day, depending on your departure time, enjoy either a short excursion to Arusha National Park or a relaxed day in Arusha before your airport transfer. Arusha National Park adds one last scenic highlight with forest, open landscapes, and views of Mount Meru, while a town-based finish offers time for rest and smooth onward travel.
Later, transfer to the airport or your onward destination, completing a long and well-rounded Tanzania safari adventure.
Suggested end-of-tour option: Airport transfer, day room, or extra overnight in Arusha can be arranged on request.
