Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by the Tanzania Adventures Group team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. This first day allows time to rest after the journey, review safari details, and receive a full briefing on the camping program, route flow, and what to expect over the next several days.
Depending on arrival time, you may relax at the hotel and prepare your day pack for the first game drive. The evening is reserved for dinner and overnight before the safari begins the next morning.
Suggested accommodation: Charity Hotel, Outpost Lodge, or a similar budget hotel in Arusha.
Day 2
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for your first safari experience. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees, wide elephant herds, and beautiful landscapes shaped by the Tarangire River. It is an excellent introduction to Tanzania wildlife, often offering sightings of giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, impalas, and sometimes predators.
Enjoy a full game drive before continuing to the campsite in the late afternoon. The camping setup gives the trip a classic safari atmosphere and keeps the overall tour budget practical.
Suggested accommodation: Tarangire Public Campsite or similar approved campsite.
Day 3
Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
Today continue to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic parks, known for its groundwater forest, Rift Valley escarpment views, and seasonal lake environment. The park offers a completely different ecosystem from Tarangire and is home to elephants, monkeys, hippos, flamingos in season, and a wide variety of bird species.
This day adds strong natural diversity to the itinerary and helps make the journey broader than a standard park-only safari. After the game drive, continue to camp for dinner and overnight.
Suggested accommodation: Migombani Campsite, Twiga Campsite, or similar campsite near Mto wa Mbu / Lake Manyara.
Day 4
Lake Manyara Area to Central Serengeti
After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park. This is one of the most exciting travel days because the scenery changes dramatically as you approach the vast plains of Serengeti. Wildlife may already appear on the route before you reach the main game drive zones.
Once inside Central Serengeti, begin an afternoon game drive on the way to camp. The central region is rich in wildlife throughout the year and is one of the best places in Tanzania for predator sightings.
Suggested accommodation: Seronera Public Campsite or similar approved campsite in Central Serengeti.
Day 5
Full Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Spend a full day exploring Central Serengeti, an area well known for resident wildlife populations and excellent year-round game viewing. The open plains, river systems, and rocky kopjes create ideal habitats for lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, and large grazing herds.
With a full day inside the park, your guide can adapt the route based on current wildlife movement and the most promising locations for sightings. This is one of the strongest safari days in the whole program.
Suggested accommodation: Seronera Public Campsite or similar approved campsite in Central Serengeti.
Day 6
Second Full Day in Serengeti
A second full day in Serengeti adds important depth to the itinerary and gives much more time to enjoy Tanzania’s most famous park. Rather than rushing through the plains, guests have a better opportunity to explore different sectors of the central area and follow animal activity more naturally.
This extra day is especially valuable for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts who want more than a brief Serengeti visit. The longer stay also improves the overall balance of the safari route.
Suggested accommodation: Seronera Public Campsite or similar approved campsite in Central Serengeti.
Day 7
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in Serengeti as you travel out of the park and continue toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. This transfer is not just a road movement, because it still offers wildlife viewing, scenic plains, and excellent photographic opportunities along the way.
Arriving near the crater rim in the afternoon places you in a strong position for the crater descent on the following day. The highland climate and cooler air provide a refreshing change after the plains.
Suggested accommodation: Simba Campsite on the Ngorongoro rim or similar approved campsite.
Day 8
Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive to Karatu Area
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater in the morning for one of Tanzania’s most iconic safari experiences. The crater floor offers a dense concentration of wildlife in a dramatic volcanic landscape, often including buffalo, lions, hyenas, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, and the possibility of seeing the black rhino.
After a picnic lunch and crater exploration, ascend and continue toward the Karatu area for the night. This day combines major wildlife action with some of the best scenery in the Northern Circuit.
Suggested accommodation: Migombani Campsite, Kudu Campsite area, or similar budget campsite near Karatu / Mto wa Mbu.
Day 9
Lake Eyasi Nature and Cultural Experience
Today explore the Lake Eyasi area, a destination that adds a different type of nature and cultural experience to the journey. This region is known for its dry lake landscapes, striking scenery, birdlife, and traditional communities such as the Hadzabe and Datoga. It offers insight into local ways of life as well as a more raw and less conventional side of northern Tanzania.
The day can include village interaction, cultural exposure, and scenic exploration around the lake environment depending on the timing and arrangement. This nature-focused addition makes the overall itinerary much more diverse and memorable.
Suggested accommodation: Lake Eyasi Public Campsite or similar approved campsite in the Eyasi area.
Day 10
Drive to Moshi
After breakfast, leave the safari circuit behind and travel toward Moshi at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. This transition day connects the classic wildlife journey with the green mountain landscapes of northern Tanzania, preparing for the final nature excursion on the next day.
On arrival in Moshi, check in, rest, and enjoy the change in atmosphere from bush camping to a town surrounded by fertile slopes and coffee-growing villages. This stop helps complete the “safari and nature tour” character of the program.
Suggested accommodation: Budget hotel in Moshi such as Panama Garden Resort budget rooms, Kilimanjaro Crane Hotel, or similar affordable stay.
Day 11
Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Experience, then Departure
On the final day, enjoy a nature excursion to Materuni village on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. This area is known for its lush scenery, coffee farms, local Chagga culture, and the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls reached by a pleasant walk through the countryside. It is an excellent soft-adventure experience and a peaceful contrast to the safari days.
After the tour, return to Moshi or proceed to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure. This final experience completes the journey with greenery, local culture, and mountain views, creating a more complete Tanzania holiday beyond game drives alone.
Suggested end-of-tour option: Airport drop-off, Moshi hotel extension, or extra Kilimanjaro area stay can be arranged on request.
