Day 1
Arrival in Arusha / Kilimanjaro Area
On arrival, you will be welcomed by Tanzania Adventures Group and transferred to your hotel for rest and safari briefing. This first day is kept light so you can recover from travel and prepare properly for the longer wildlife journey ahead.
Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the lodge and receive a short introduction to the safari route, accommodation plan, and likely migration zone for your chosen dates.
Suggested overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge / Forest Hill Hotel / similar
Day 2
Arusha to Central Serengeti
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti through the Ngorongoro highlands and enjoy the changing scenery of northern Tanzania. The drive itself adds to the safari atmosphere as you move from cultivated areas into dramatic open landscapes and wildlife country.
Once inside Serengeti, begin your first game drive while heading toward camp. Even this first afternoon can produce memorable sightings such as giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions, or cheetahs depending on recent animal movement.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Heritage Camp / Thorn Tree Camp / similar
Day 3
Full Day Central Serengeti Migration Safari
Today is dedicated to a full day game drive in one of the most productive sections of the Serengeti ecosystem. Central Serengeti is often strong for year-round wildlife, predator sightings, and migration movement during several months of the year.
With picnic lunch and a private guide, the day is designed to maximize flexibility and help you follow wildlife action rather than being limited by a rigid route.
Suggested overnight: Into Wild Africa Camp / Serengeti Safari Haven / similar
Day 4
Migration Tracking Toward the Best Seasonal Zone
Based on herd movement and recent guide reports, today’s safari focuses on the most promising migration area for your travel month. In some seasons this means staying in central Serengeti, while in others it may involve shifting toward western, northern, or southern sections.
This flexibility is one of the major strengths of a longer itinerary because it allows your safari plan to respond to real wildlife conditions instead of following a fixed route that may miss the action.
Suggested overnight: Kati Kati Tented Camp / Kon Tiki Serengeti Camp / similar
Day 5
Full Day in the Main Migration Area
Spend a full day exploring the most productive wildlife zone identified by your guide. By now, the safari becomes more targeted, improving the chance of strong sightings such as long wildebeest lines, zebra concentrations, hyena activity, or predator follow-up.
This day is especially valuable for travellers interested in wildlife photography and for guests who want time to wait patiently at active areas rather than rushing between stops.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Safari Haven / Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp / similar
Day 6
Extended Serengeti Exploration and Predator Search
Another full game-drive day allows deeper exploration of kopjes, river zones, open plains, and predator territories. Because you have enough days in the park, this stage of the trip often becomes one of the most rewarding, with less pressure and more time to follow the rhythm of the bush.
If the migration is especially active, your guide can shape the day around current herd concentration, crossing attempts, calving grounds, or fresh predator tracks.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge / Serengeti Heritage Luxury Camp / similar
Day 7
Flexible Migration Day with Scenic Game Drives
Today gives even more room for strategic wildlife tracking. The guide may revisit active areas seen earlier in the safari or explore new sections depending on sightings, weather, and road access.
This is often the point where a longer safari shows its value, because you are not depending on just one or two lucky days. Instead, the itinerary gives repeated strong opportunities to experience the migration in a more complete way.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti Safari Lodge / Serengeti Sametu Camp / similar
Day 8
Morning and Afternoon Serengeti Game Drives
Continue enjoying game drives across the ecosystem with a strong focus on areas that are still producing the best action. This day can be used for special photographic interests, repeat visits to productive wildlife zones, or a more relaxed exploration pace.
Having several days inside Serengeti improves the overall quality of the safari and often leads to more memorable and varied sightings across the whole trip.
Suggested overnight: Kubukubu Tented Lodge / Kon Tiki Serengeti Camp / similar
Day 9
Final Serengeti Game Drive and Transfer to Karatu
After breakfast, enjoy a last safari session in Serengeti before beginning the drive out toward Karatu or the Ngorongoro highlands. This break in the return journey keeps the itinerary more comfortable and avoids an exhausting final transfer day.
The evening is spent at a lodge where you can rest, enjoy dinner, and reflect on the safari before heading back to Arusha.
Suggested overnight: Marera Valley Lodge / Eileen’s Trees Inn / similar
Day 10
Karatu to Arusha / Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha for airport drop-off or hotel transfer according to your onward plan. This marks the end of your long Serengeti wildlife journey and completes a safari built for real migration focus.
Guests who want to extend their holiday can also combine the safari with mountain or beach options such as the
