Arrive in Tanzania via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where Kilimanjaro Brothers staff will pick you up and transfer you to Moshi town. Spend the first night at a hotel. For those arriving through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Kenya, you will be transferred by shuttle bus to Moshi.
A guide and a mountain support crew will meet you at the hotel for a briefing before traveling to Londorossi Gate (2,200 m). After registering, start trekking through the rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780 m). The hike will take around 3-5 hours, with a distance of approximately 6 km. Raincoats are necessary as you will be walking through the rainforest. During the climb, our professional mountain crew will set up tents and prepare lunch. This day is important for acclimatization, so be sure to drink over 4 liters of water daily and avoid alcohol and caffeine.
An early wake-up and breakfast will start your day as you trek towards Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m), a relatively easy hike of 5-6 hours. This hike will allow you to start the acclimatization process, and you will be able to view Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano. After reaching the camp, you will rest, and lunch will be served. The elevation gain is about 725 meters (2,375 feet), and you will cover around 5 km.
Today's hike is a gradual ascent from Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m), covering approximately 7 km in about 3-4 hours. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and Mount Meru. After reaching Shira 2 Camp, you will have lunch and then embark on a brief acclimatization hike to Lava Tower Camp, gaining an additional 300 meters (1,000 feet) in altitude.
After breakfast, continue your ascent to Lava Tower (4,630 m), where you will stop for lunch and acclimatize for 1-2 hours. Then, descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). The day's hike covers about 7 km and takes approximately 3-4 hours, and you will experience some ascents and descents along the way. This is essential for acclimatization to higher altitudes.
After an early breakfast, hike up the Barranco Wall, which takes around an hour. Then, continue to Karanga Valley Camp (4,035 m), which is a more difficult hike with several ascents and descents. This portion of the trek will take around 4-5 hours and cover a distance of approximately 5 km. Your team of expert guides will ensure an optimal pace for the group.
In the morning, hike to Barafu Camp (4,640 m), which is the starting point for your summit attempt. After reaching Barafu Camp, relax and complete an acclimatization hike towards Kosovo Camp (4,800 m) before returning to Barafu. The hike covers about 6 km and takes 4-5 hours. This day is critical for rest before the final summit ascent.
Begin your summit attempt from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) at night. The ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) is challenging due to the high altitude, but each climber will be supported by a personal guide. After reaching the peak and celebrating your success, descend to Barafu Camp for a rest. Afterward, continue to Millennium Camp (3,820 m). The entire hike is approximately 15 km, taking 8-12 hours, and passes through arctic conditions.
After breakfast, descend from Millennium Camp (3,820 m) to Mweka Gate (1,650 m). This final leg of the trek takes around 4-5 hours, covering approximately 12 km through lush rainforest. Upon arrival at the gate, you will receive your commemorative certificates and return to the hotel in Moshi.
Rest at the hotel and prepare for your transfer back to the airport for your departure. The total distance covered during the trek is 70 km (42 miles).
