Begin your Kilimanjaro adventure with a drive from Moshi to the Marangu Gate. After registering at the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority offices, commence the climb through the rainforest to Mandara Hut, located at 9,000 ft / 2,740 m. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania.
After breakfast, start trekking to Horombo Hut. Stop for a short break and snacks at Kibo Hut before continuing on to Horombo Hut. Reach Horombo Hut in the afternoon and enjoy your last night on the mountain.
Rest and acclimatize at Horombo Hut. This day is omitted if choosing a 5-day itinerary.
After a long sleep, wake up for breakfast and pack. Continue your descent through the moorland to Mandara Huts. Here, you will have lunch, then proceed your triumphant recessional down through lush forest to Marangu park gate. After the gate, sign out and a vehicle will take you back to the hotel where it is definitely time for your certificate presentation and celebration!
Finish the trek with a descent to Marangu Gate. Your last hike on Kilimanjaro is a beautiful one, passing through Kilimanjaro’s cloud forest.
